Review Sofitel Le Louise

Location

The Sofitel Le Louise is nicely located along the upscale Avenue Louise shopping district in Brussels. It’s about a 15 minutes walk to the Main Square and Manneke Pis, a nice walk by the way. Along the Avenue de la Toison d’Or are sidewalk cafes and designer shops like Dior and Ferragamo. The Sofitel is just a short walk to the antiques, architecture, museums and restaurants at Place du Grand Sablon.

Sofitel Le Louise: Lobby and Crystal Lounge

The interior was redone in 2008, looks brand new and beautifully designed. The lobby and reception desk, in silver and plum, overlooks the large and nice courtyard. The Crystal Bar and Lounge is a Brussels hot spot with live DJs on the weekend. Don’t worry about the noise in your room, my room was nice and quiet and slept like a baby. If you go for a drink, go for the “Crystal Dream”, a rare vodka sprinkled with gold particles. Decadent!

Restaurant and Terrace

When the weather is beautiful, as it was on my visit, the terrace is the perfect place to have a cocktail or dinner. Because I have a love/hate fascination with the molecular food trend, I had to order this creative version of a Cosmopolitan, the “Cointreaupolitan.” It involved creating small, caviar-sized pearls of Cointreau essence using a syringe, a tea strainer and a digital timer. It was entertaining, and the Cosmo was delicious.
We dined outside as well to enjoy the beautiful Brussels weather. The presentation of the dishes was matched by the unique flavors. I would recommend teh place, even if you aren’t staying at the hotel on this trip, to make reservations at the restaurant – it was fabulous!

Rooms and Suites

I had a Classic Guest room with a Kingsize bed, with a capital K. Wonderful beds, would like to take one home. :-) All guest rooms at the Sofitel Brussels Le Louise have espresso/coffee makers and Hermes bath products.
I spent the first night in a Sofitel Junior Suite, which had plenty of room with a living room and bedroom. The bathroom had a rainforest showerhead and a European shower wand, plus a separate bathtub. Very nice.

The second night I upgraded to the “So Well” Prestige Suite. It was like staying in my own private spa! I could enjoy a steam shower, play the Nintendo Wii and even enjoy my own personal meditation room. Furnishings in the “So Well” Prestige Suite are quite sleek and modern, with plenty of curves; for the people into design: famous designer Etienne Bouten created the new look for the guest rooms in Sofitel Brussels Le Louise.

Conclusion

I can really recommend this place, they do everything to make you feel good and ,even better, they succeed in doing that. Rooms were amazing and I slept like a baby. Restaurants, bar and breakfast are awesome. It’s an expensive place, but worth every penny for a special occasion.
